"Gravity" movie - Shenzhou concepts

Shenzhou space capsule designs I created for the movie "Gravity". [spoiler] This is the spacecraft that Sandra Bullock's character uses to return to Earth towards the end of the movie; landing in a remote lake and quickly sinking to the bottom of it. The script required the capsule to have an explosive emergency-release hatch incorporated into its design, allowing her to escape. As with the Soyuz concepts I developed for the movie, this Shenzhou capsule also went through numerous iterations.

Modelled and rendered in Cinema 4D. Decals and graphics created in Illustrator (please excuse my poor Chinese translations!). Compositing done in Photoshop.
